Editorial projects have varied in scale and complexity and involve extensive research into myriad topics—from a global history of elevated walkway systems to comprehensive historical reviews of new genres such as suburban studies or the countercultural production of the 1960s. Some are deep dives into archival holdings such as With Eyes Opened, a history of Cranbrook Academy of Art that involved five years of discovery in manuscript and image files. In each project, the roles of author, editor, researcher, and designer merge in commissions and collaborations with editors, researchers, designers, and authors.
